Brave Ground - a warm earthy tone to provide a firm foundation for creativity in the home
Dulux have recently announced that their paint colour of the year for 2021 will be "Brave Ground", a warm, earthy greyed off natural which can be combined with a range of other hues without dominating to add depth and interest.

According to Dulux, Brave Ground was considered a shade that "enabled people to draw upon the strength of nature to help them find the courage to embrace the future" and there is no doubt that the global pandemic that we have faced in 2020 has had a profound influence on all of our lives and this is reflected in the influences on future colour and design trends.
As we move forward in these uncertain times the home takes on a multifunctional role as a place where we work, learn and relax and the interior becomes even more important to us than it has before, as a way to inspire us, comfort and protect us. Brave Ground provides a foundation for us to be creative in our homes and adapt where we need to.

To provide inspiration for our "new normal" Dulux have put together a series of 4 colour palettes to illustrate how Brave Ground can be combined with other shades.
These palettes show the versatility of the Dulux 2021 Colour of the Year and how different looks can be created using the same base shade. The Timeless Palette works well in both traditional and modern settings - combine textural and geometric fabrics with artisanal crafts in natural materials and finishes.

Team the natural hue of Brave Ground with bold pinks and reds. This palette works especially well with modern designs, graphic and geometric patterns and light wooden finishes.

Combine the Dulux Colour of the Year with a mix of soft natural shades to create a warm and inviting feel. The tones work well with mid century furniture and rich textures such as velvet. Copper accents further enhance the cosy look.
